If you’re in my category of individuals who have chosen to start a home business, you will agree with me that one critical way of creating more revenue for your startup is to attract more customers.
It matters very little whether you’re operating a brick-and-mortar storefront or you’re an online entrepreneur just like me.
But since many of us are still bootstrapping or running on very low budgets, we need to get more resourceful.
We want to make sure that we don’t end up destroying our home businesses with high advertising costs.
There are a number of ways to promote your small business, attract more customers and make more money without spending a dime.
So how can we market our online businesses to attract valuable customers without spending too much money?
I have for you here my blockbuster list of seven no-money-spending marketing strategies I’ve been implementing.
These strategies for attracting more customers have been producing amazing results for me personally.
This is the only reason I believe you too will find them very helpful for that cute home business of yours.
Show kindness to your existing customers, particularly the good and loyal ones.
Offer them gifts and bonuses. You do not need to break the bank to do this. A free training course or a simple ebook with great content can make you get more customers.
Then sit back and relax to allow them to do the word-of-mouth magic for you.
2. Toxic people
Toxic people around your home business repel the most loyal customer. And they block the way for others to come in.
So refuse to allow toxic individuals to scare off both your existing customers and the prospective ones.
Learn to spot toxic people within your circle.
And here, I’m referring to all kinds of people who are constantly close to your business or who may interact with customers.
They could be employees, business partners, friends and even loved ones.
Simply let them stay as far away as possible from the business.
Sack them, if you have to, before it is too late.
Show humility when dealing with people from all stations in life.
Avoid getting arrogant when your business begins to succeed beyond your wildest dreams.
Remember that your customers contributed to your current success. So do not fall into the trap of becoming arrogant.
Otherwise, you may live to regret your bad attitude.
Make your customers always feel welcomed and respected and they will reciprocate by bringing you more leads.
As you can see, it takes no money to do this.
4. Building trust
The more truthful you are, the more trustworthy you will become in the eyes of your prospects.
Act in ways that will build solid trust between you and those you deal with. This way, they will willingly assist you in their own way to continue to have an ever-increasing customer base.
5. Going the extra mile
Exceed customer expectations.
Yes, it is great to honour your obligations to your customers. However, it’s even much greater to deliver more than they asked or hoped for.
This is an easy and cheap way to keep customers coming back and also to benefit from hordes of referrals.
6. Names matter
Remember the names of your customers and call them by their preferred names or titles.
You know something? We live in a world where some people are so obsessed with titles and positions that all you need to make them feel important and comfortable in your company is to give them just that – always.
That being said, you don’t want to forget the fact that most of us would do anything for you if you could simply sing our first names into our ears.
So while you reserve the Mrs, Mr, Dr, Prof, Attorney, Lawyer etc, etc, for those who cannot breathe without them, make sure to remember and call the others by their most-loved first names or nicknames.
You’ll be surprised at the number of customers you’ll retain and keep attracting with this simple formula.
7. Appearances count a lot.
Maintain a clean and tidy work environment.
I don’t need to tell you how greatly this can impact on your bottom line, either positively or negatively.
So, whether it is an offline storefront or your website, just do all in your power to make it attractive and inviting.
The majority of your regular clients as well as the first-timers will definitely reward you with their unalloyed loyalty.
While in business, you can’t afford to reserve a warm smile for only the times when everything is fine.
The best time you need to put on a smiling face and a positive attitude is when the going gets tough.
Your viewers (if you’re a vlogger, for example) or your prospective customers don’t care whether you’ve just cut your finger with a knife!
People easily get put off by a face that is obviously not inviting enough.
So learn to smile often. And you will keep your customers happy and also attract more.
It isn’t always that we have to spend tons of cash just to maintain or attract prospects to our home business.
Quite often, all it takes is simple gestures that keep our customers happy.
